The Other Change of Hobbit is located in downtown Berkeley, at 2020 Shattuck Avenue between University and Addison.
To reach us by car: from I-80/the Nimitz Freeway take the University Ave exit east (away from the Bay, towards the hills). Shattuck is a couple of miles in -- there are a McDonald's. a tacqueria, an Indian restaurant and a bank at the intersection. Turn right. We're two-thirds of the way down the block.
There is plenty of street parking, if you're lucky and/or patient. But beware the often over-zealous meter maids. Berkeley's Center Street Garage (between Shattuck and Milvia, entrances from both Addison and Center streets) does offer free parking for the first half hour.
To reach us by public transit: we're one block away from the Berkeley BART station. Head northwest to the stairs of the Addison West exit. At the top of the stairs, cross Addison at the streetlight. Walk past Newberry's (a 'five and dime' store [defunct as of late 1999]), another empty store front [renovated in 2001, but unrented since]), a hole-in-the-wall cheap (but tasty when fresh) Chinese restaurant, and look for the windows with geckos and the sandwich boards with Mark Ferrari's bookreading dragon . . .
